Wind Chill Advisory Saturday night and Sunday morning as an Arctic airmass enters the tri-state area tomorrow. However today will be a quiet day with clouds thickening and temps in the upper 30’s and low 40’s. Tomorrow temps fall through the teens with lows dropping to zero and wind chills around 15 below. Light freezing fog and light snow are possible late in the afternoon through the overnight. Sunday Arctic airmass sits over the region with bitter cold highs in upper single digits and lows and windchills well below zero. As a Gyre low pressure sits over central and eastern Canada north winds will keep surges of Arctic air over the region through midweek, but no precipitation is expected. Monday and Tuesday temps will be in the teens and lows around or below zero.

Today a Pacific system kicks out of the 4 Corners region moving east through southeast New Mexico and Central Texas then through the Mississippi Delta and eastern U.S. on tomorrow and Thursday. South Central and southeastern Kansas will see chances for some snow, but locally we will see mostly cloudy skies and dense freezing fog advisory this morning, a cold front move through with some breezy northwest winds this afternoon. Under northwest flow colder below normal temps will be in place through the week with some light occasional snow flurries. Daytime temps this week will be in the 20’s and lower 30’s, nighttime temps in the teens. Friday will be the first day daytime temps climb above freezing ahead of a system from the northwest that will bring a round of light snow Friday night and Saturday and very cold Arctic air for Sunday.

This week we will see a pattern shift with ridging developing out west and drier colder Canadian air settling over the Central U.S. and Plains States. A last Pacific system kicks out of the 4 Corners region today moving east through southeast New Mexico and Central Texas tomorrow and through the Mississippi Delta and eastern U.S. on Wednesday and Thursday. South Central and southeastern Kansas will see chances for some snow, but locally we will see mostly cloudy skies, a cold front move through with some breezy northwest winds tomorrow and colder below normal temps through the week. Daytime temps this week will be in the 20’s and lower 30’s, nighttime temps in the teens with no chances for more snow. Friday will be the first day daytime temps climb above freezing.

Winter Storm Watch for Counties along Hwy 24 and Warning for those along Hwy 40 and south Today a low-pressure will move out of 4 Corners and along the KS/OK border tonight and off to the east Saturday. This will lead to increasing clouds and with current snowpack will remain cold in the 30’s. 3” to 6”+ snow accumulations are expected south of I-70 to just and 1” or 2” north to the KS/NE border tonight and tomorrow morning. Not a lot of wind with the system either so no drifting is expected. Saturday will see morning snow showers with the system moving out of the area in the afternoon. Sunday remains cold with another disturbance Sunday night, Monday, and early Tuesday. This system is forecasted to be a bit further south tracking in Texas and Oklahoma and may only result in clouds or minor light snow locally but needs monitored for tracking further north.

Winter Storm Watch for Friday PM to Saturday PM Today clouds will decrease and temps warm a bit into mid to upper 30’s as a ridge moves over the ahead of the next storm system Friday night and Saturday. Friday clouds will increase temps will in the low 30’s and snow showers will develop in the evening and overnight. This lo is forecasted to be further south than the last, thus higher 4”+ snow accumulations most likely south of I-70. Saturday will see morning snow showers with the system moving out of the area in the afternoon. Sunday remains cold with another weak disturbance Sunday night and Monday. This system too is forecasted to be even further south tracking in Texas and Oklahoma and may only result in clouds or minor light snow locally.

Winter Storm Warning today as an upper-level low moves through the area and northeast producing freezing fog and drizzle that will change to snow heavy at times along highway 34/36 and I-70 corridors with heaviest to the north KS/NE border. NNE winds will increase to 15-25 with a little bit of blowing snow potential and temps will hover in upper 20’s and around 30. Tomorrow clouds will decrease and temps warm a bit into upper 30’s. Friday clouds will increase ahead of another disturbance Friday night and early Saturday bringing chance for some additional light snow trending to be along and south of I-70. Sunday remains cold with another weak disturbance Sunday night and Monday to our south mainly.

Winter Storm Warning tonight and tomorrow with 4” to 8”+ heavy wet snow potential mainly north I-70. Today a storm system will move out of the 4 Corners region and southern Colorado this evening and tonight and across northwest Kansas tomorrow. Afternoon temps today will be in the upper 30’s to low 40’s, clouds will be on the increase and snow showers will develop and move out of Colorado overnight with lows dropping into the upper 20’s. Tomorrow snow heavy at times will fall along the highway 34/36 and I-70 corridors in the Tri-state area with heaviest to the north, NNE winds will increase and temps will hover in upper 20’s and low 30’s. Thursday and Saturday will be an in between day with a couple additional systems Friday evening / overnight and Sunday night bringing chance for some additional minor light snow with main tracks further south in Oklahoma and Texas.

Today we will see decreasing clouds, after a quick moving system early this morning moves off to the northeast and the next system comes onshore out of the Pacific this afternoon. That system will move through tomorrow night and Wednesday and NWS has a Winter Storm Watch in place with 4” to 8” heavy wet snow potential mainly north I-70. Expect hazardous travel conditions northwest KS and northeast CO. Afternoon temps today and tomorrow will be in the 40’s and lows in the lower 20’s. Thursday will be an in between day with another system Friday bringing another chance for light snow.

Today we will see decreasing clouds, northwest flow and cooler seasonal temps in the lower 40’s behind a low-pressure system moving off to the east and ridging building out west. Tomorrow and through the weekend high-pressure ridge to our west moves over the region and warms daytime temps into the 50’s during the days and mid to upper 20’s at night, while the high forms an Omega block keeping weather system away. Sunday night and early Monday another quick moving trough and disturbance could produce some very light rain or snow of a few points accumulation as better moisture will be to the east as it moves away.

Today a trough and low will kick out of southeast CO and bring later afternoon rain chances changing snow chances in the evening and overnight. Expected precipitation with this system will be in the.15” to .35” range, nice moisture to go with the .50” to 1” some places received to start off the New Year. Tomorrow we will see decreasing clouds behind the system and cooler seasonal temps in the lower to mid-40’s. Friday and through high-pressure rebuilds to our west and temps warm into the 50’s during the days and mid to upper 20’s at night, while the high forms an Omega block keeping weather system away.
