Today sunny skies and south westerly flow will lead to above normal temps in the mid to upper 50’s, while a trough and a low-pressure develops over the central Rockies and moves through the area overnight and tomorrow and into northern Missouri Thursday morning. This will bring a shot of cold air, breezy north winds, and some light snow tomorrow later in the day and overnight. Wednesday’s temps fall through the 20’s to lows below zero and Thursdays in the teens with lows in the single digits and wind chill readings 15-25 below Thursday and Friday mornings. Friday and Saturday high-pressure, and ridging redevelop with warmer temps.

Today and tomorrow west and south westerly flow will lead to above normal temps in the low to mid 50’s, while a trough develops to the west and a ridge to the east. Overnight and morning lows will be in the mid 20’s. Wednesday a low-pressure develops in the trough over the central Rockies and moves through the area overnight to northern Missouri Thursday morning. This will bring a shot of cold air, gusty north winds, and some light snow north of I-70. Wednesday’s highs will be early in the low 30’s and Thursdays fall into the low 20’s with lows in the single digits and wind chill readings 10-20 below Thursday morning. Friday high-pressure and ridging redevelop with warmer temps.

After some wintery weather today will begin a warming trend that continues through the weekend and early next week melting the snow on the ground. Today, and tomorrow an upper-level ridge will push highs into the upper 30’s and lower 40’s and lows into the upper teens and low 20’s. Near to above normal temps in the mid to upper 40’s and low 50’s Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday as flow becomes more westerly and down sloping ahead of the next storm system that arrives Tuesday night through Thursday.

Today the winter storm system moves off to the east but remains cloudy with a few snow flurries, breezy and cold to start the day. Skies will clear and northwest winds diminish as the day moves along and highs reach into the mid to upper 20’s. Snowpack will have an impact on temps, but as we move into Friday, and Saturday upper-level ridging will push highs into the upper 30’s and lower 40’s and lows into the upper teens and low 20’s. Near to above normal temps in the upper 40’s and low 50’s Sunday and Monday as flow becomes more westerly and down sloping.

WINTER STORM WARNING TODAY & TONIGHT where 4” to 8” inches of snow and blowing snow are possible. Temps will drop into the upper teens and low 20’s, lows upper single digits and north winds gust 25 to 35 mph. Tomorrow the system moves off to the east but will remain cold in the upper 20’s, breezy north wind mainly in the morning, with lows in single digits impacted by snowpack as well. Friday, Saturday and Sunday the area will be under an upper-level ridge and northwesterly flow warms into the 40’s and lows into the upper teens and low 20’s.

Today a low will move from southwest Ks to Omaha and produce some wrap around rain showers beginning mid-morning then exiting to the east later in the afternoon. North winds will gust to 45 mph and temps will be in the mid-40’s. A second low pressure follows out of southeast CO tonight and tomorrow has Hwy 36 Counties in a Winter Storm Watch and Counties along and south of I-70 in a Warning, where 4” to 8” inches of snow and blowing snow are possible. Temps will drop into the 20’s and teens and north winds gust 25 to 35 mph. Thursday the system moves off to the east but will remain cold in the upper 20’s and lower 30’s lows in single digit and teens impacted by snowpack as well. Friday and Saturday the area will be under an upper-level ridge and northwesterly flow warms into the 40’s and lows into the upper teens and low 20’s.

Today will be another warm and dry day with southwest winds and sunshine ahead of two low pressure systems that will bring a round of rain and snow tomorrow and Wednesday. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Tuesday night through Wednesday night with the potential for good rain and wet snow accumulation. Today’s highs will climb to around 60 then tomorrow with the clouds and rain be in the mid-40’s and then turn much colder Wednesday in the 20’s with some moderate snow accumulation. Thursday will remain cold in the lower 30’s as the storm system moves off to the east then Friday warms into the lower 40’s as high-pressure builds over the Rockies and expands into the Region.

Today light southwest winds will continue, skies will be clear and under a high-pressure ridge will push temps into the upper 30’s to mid-40’s, lows will be around 20. Tomorrow the ridge remains over the area and southerly winds will keep warming temps into the 50’s for highs and lows in the mid-20’s. Sunday a weak cool front will drop temps into the 40’s then they return to the 50’s on Monday as a cutoff low moves out of the Texas Panhandle northeast into south central Kansas. This system has warm Pacific air associated with it and rain showers are possible Monday night and Tuesday south and east of Highway 283.

The general track of these systems over Central Plains and the Upper Midwest, are regions that have seen some snowfall events thus far this winter and even, though in drought, snowfall amounts, and current snowpack are above normal and have received their typical seasonal snowfall. The southern end of the storm system should be ripe for another round of severe weather as well. Also, these systems will sweep cold air across the country, but it looks like it will be brief. Next week's weather pattern looks to be quite busy and have folks checking on the forecast and logger range models are hinting that the following week may be similarly busy to end meteorological winter and the month.

Today and tomorrow light west, northwest and southwest winds will be the norm under a high-pressure ridge, while temps will continue to be seasonal with highs in the 40’s and lows in the 20’s. A second low-pressure and cold front traverses the area Wednesday night and Thursday with a quick shot of colder air and possibly some light snow and flurries with no significant accumulation. However, the north winds will increase to 15-30 mph with gusts of 40-50 mph. Friday and over the weekend high-pressure ridging returns with warmer temps and dry conditions, with Saturday being the warmest reaching into the 50’s.
